WildLandscapes International

WildLandscapes partners with people protecting wild places for wild things.

Our aim is to help connect and safeguard globally significant landscapes that sustain vital wildlife, ecosystems, and livelihoods. We do this through a one-off, project-based approach that strengthens long-term local stewardship by communities, conservationists, Indigenous Peoples, ranchers, foresters, fisherfolk, and government agencies. We help our partners tackle big, complex challenges by combining science, collaboration, and a flexible, solutions-driven mindset.

Founded in 2018, WildLandscapes is made up of a small, deeply experienced and highly skilled team, nimble and efficient, with low overheads and little bureaucracy. This allows us to provide high impact, focused assistance to our partners in the field, empowering them to continue the mission long after we are gone. It also puts us in a better position to take on ambitious, higher-risk projects, where the stakes are higher, but the return is even more meaningful.

WildLandscapes East Africa

WildLandscapes East Africa

WildLandscapes East Africa was founded in 2024 to bring WildLandscapes International’s mission closer to the ground. Based in Kenya, we work across some of East Africa’s most extraordinary and complex landscapes, places where conservation matters deeply, but where getting things done isn’t always straightforward.

Our approach is simple: we work with the people already doing the work - community leaders, rangers, conservationists - and help them go further. Sometimes that means supporting a community conservancy to get back on its feet, or helping build a stronger foundation for a project that’s already up and running. Our small team brings years of local experience and a flexible, practical mindset. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions, every place needs its own approach, and we’re here to help shape it.

Backed by a board that knows this region well, we’re focused on building something lasting: bringing back species that have been lost, restoring broken ecosystems, and helping create conservation models that can stand strong on their own.

We choose our projects and partners with care, guided by a mix of strategic and ecological priorities. Most of our work happens at scale, in landscapes that support key species and dynamic ecosystems, and in initiatives that are courageous, complex, and often overlooked because of that complexity. These efforts offer endangered and vulnerable species the best shot at long-term survival, but they demand thoughtful coordination across diverse stakeholders and interests. They also span varied terrain - farms, cities, wilderness, and protected areas - layered with legal, political, and logistical challenges.

What unites our projects is that they’re time-bound, with a clear beginning, middle, and end. We’re not building long-term programs, we’re stepping in to help solve specific problems. And we only take on what matches our strengths. In the U.S., that often means navigating real estate and policy with creativity and credibility. In East Africa, it means earning trust, building systems that work in remote places, and making conservation practical. Another of our key strengths is unlocking funding: we help partners access major resources, often public or government-linked, that might otherwise be out of reach, bridging the gap between big ideas and the support needed to bring them to life. From coalition-building to compliance, we come equipped with everything it takes to get the jobe done, relying on what the science shows, what the field teaches, and what actually gets results.
