We are thrilled to share our 2023 Annual Report, which celebrates another year of conservation evolution around the world. Inside, you’ll find stories of how we’ve protected critical habitats, collaborated with communities, and driven meaningful impact for both wildlife and people. We are excited about everything that’s yet to come, and honored to have joined forces with so many incredible partners along the way.
Making a tangible difference
In 2023, we made significant progress across multiple projects. In Florida, we concluded Phase I of the Green Heart of the Everglades project, securing 11,141 acres that connect 2.2 million acres of protected habitats, supporting species like the Florida panther and black bear. We also began Phase II, uniting with the Miccosukee Tribe to protect 447,417 acres of mineral rights beneath Big Cypress National Preserve. In New Hampshire, we preserved over 3,000 acres of Bear Hill, safeguarding essential habitat for black bears and migratory birds. Internationally, we expanded the Haarwegskloof Renosterveld Reserve in South Africa by 1,235 acres, protecting a crucial floral ecosystem. In Kenya, we supported efforts to double the Eastern black rhino population through multi-landscape conservation, key political backing and advanced strategic planning. In India, we strengthened the Kaziranga-Karbi-Anglong Community Conservancy, an anchor for the Bhutan-to-Burma Corridor, promoting species connectivity and local livelihoods. Our Oregon project took further steps towards our Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) which essentially aims to make farming more sustainable, conservation-friendly and profitable county-wide.
Conservation Chronicles
Our organization is inspired by the vision and relentless determination of the people we work with. Their accomplishments are a testament to their resilience, positivity, and cooperative effort. True teamwork means leaving egos aside, embracing humility, and focusing on the collective goal. When recognition and credit take a backseat to shared success, collaboration becomes a powerful force that consistently achieves more than individual effort ever could. In this edition, we’ve gathered insights from leaders spearheading transformative projects worldwide, sharing their thoughts on overcoming seemingly impossible challenges and why it’s so important to do so. We spoke with David Roby from Bear Hill, Diamond Bergeron from the Florida Everglades, Jamie Gaymer from the Kenya Rhino Range Expansion, Bibhab Talukdar from the B2B Corridor, Pam Throop in Alaska, Dr. Odette Curtis-Scott in South Africa, and Brenda Smith from Oregon.
